I’ve been testing a few virtual try-on tools lately because I’m trying to figure out which one actually works well for everyday photos, not just those polished studio shots they show in ads. I used Undress.app’s garment overlay on a couple of random pictures from my phone, and the results looked surprisingly consistent, but I don’t really know how it compares to the other apps out there. Has anyone done a side-by-side test? I’m curious if it struggles with certain fabrics or poses, because some apps glitch whenever the angle isn’t perfectly frontal.

I’ve tried a handful of these tools over the past year, mostly out of curiosity, and honestly the only one that behaved somewhat predictably with casual photos was undress ai. What stood out to me wasn’t just the overlay itself but the way it handles folds when the original clothing has heavy shadows. Other apps I tried often fail when the shirt has patterns or when the person is slightly turned, giving those weird “stretched” textures.
With Undress.app, I tested three totally different scenarios: one outdoor picture with uneven sunlight, one mirror selfie, and one older photo with slightly grainy quality. The overlays didn’t look perfect in every case, but at least the clothing shape didn’t warp dramatically. The mirror selfie still caused some odd blending near the edges, though not as bad as what I saw on the other platforms. For me the biggest factor is how well the original silhouette is maintained, and Undress.app seems to hold up better than most. You might notice small inconsistencies with thicker fabrics, but that’s kind of expected right now with AI tools in general.
